Juicy Problem

I used to be a fan of the pomegrant juice of Odwalla. I couldnt drink it often because it was expensive but it sure was tasty.

So here is a glimpse of what we think on the Odwalla Case:

Odwalla has a faced a safety issue with its products because of a logistics issue. Odwalla ensures the safety of its products through refrigation of hand squeezed juices and picks up the unsold juices daily. Odwalla insists on growing its juice in the state of Washington.  Its previous target market consisted of California, Oregon, Colorado, Washington, New Mexico , Texas and Nevada. Its current distance of shipment is 1800 miles the furthest. Florida is 3000 miles off from the state of Washington. The demand has passed the supply in Florida. Our assumption is that there were couple of products that are past their daily freshness because Odwalla couldn’t keep up with the demand and its current line of logistics. Those products were non pasteurized just like all Odwalla products. This is why E.Coli bacteria appeared.
